Well, here’s a first – a game review for something I haven’t even played! Well ill just lump myself into the category of “everyone else in the UK” then.

The WiiFit, which as you’ll see by the picture – is basically a set of scales with two areas rather then one – is currently annihilating the Japanese market.

It was Launched on December 1^st in Tokyo for just shy of Nine grand! That’s around $75 to the Yanks, and at today’s approximate exchange rate (2.05) about £36.50.

However that being said – the UK’s image of being the Pretty Rich Kids, means that I would stake my reputation as a ‘Rascalian’ on the fact that it wont be touching our shelves for less then £50. I’m sure that pre-orders on websites will start around £39.99, but I reckon with the phenomenon that this is currently causing over in Japan – combined with our heinous obesity problems in the UK – this is going to be nuts!

But more onto the game…

Its basically everything for weight loss you could imagine. I’m not 100% sure on the whole dynamics of how it works, but there’s a lot of different programmes to run. From Yoga (yes – it makes you do ‘sleeping mattress’ or whatever the Yoga poses are called) to Hula Hoop to every other type of body movement/weight-loss/sweat-enducing/liposuction there is!

I will now brand the whole of Japan with my stereo-type brush… They are all massively thin! So how something like this could take them by storm – I’m intrigued. Now I know what you’re all thinking (I’ve already ‘thunk’ it) but the whole reason we are the nation of chunks we are is because of exactly this. Weight Loss methods are out there (like actually chewing food!) but we are the people who just can’t be @rsed!

So Japan, being into all their peace-lillys and feng shui, I’m thinking – that another trinket to their cabinet of exercise is no biggy!

With it coming out in Japan in December – I’m going to state the rule of 3 to this – as with most releases. I would suggest (not legally binding) that the US will be seeing this in March/April, meaning us technological-cavemen will be tasting this beauty around July. Luckily in time for Summer – to make us look ‘pleasant’ naked on the beach, but unfortunately for Nintendo, not January – i.e. to cash in on everyone’s new years resolution of ‘losing 35 stone’.

We’ll be able to see a nice test run with the Americans, because they have their fair share of weight problems (have you been to Texas?), so if they take to it – then you can imagine it will be the Google search word of the month when it finally lands on British soil.

So to summarise, – current exchange rate: £36 ish – probable shelf cost: £50+ – probable chance of getting one: Slim – UK ETA: Summer Time (depending on global sales)

But needless to say, with my recent display of excellence this Christmas (those Shortbreads didn’t know what hit ‘em) you can ensure that whatever day they do decide to grace the Queens kingdom – you’ll be one step behind me in the queue!
