[360] Guitar Hero 3

Guitar Hero 3

Maximum Players 2 Minimum Players 1

Type of Player To Accommodate: ‘Hands On’ Music Lover

Well, I could start from the beginning on this one – but Guitar Hero deserves better – I wont start with how slow moving and crude Guitar Hero 1 was, I’m just gonna go straight for the money shot – and say Guitar Hero – Rocks! (Pardon the Pun)

With the new wireless (thank god – at last!) controller, it really makes the game so much more enjoyable. I know, like most others – I used to pretend the original cable was some sort of ‘Amp plug’ and tried to add it to the realism, but that failed miserably!

Now with the Red Octane Wireless remote – you can seriously rock out. Whether you’re like me and prefer a laying down approach to Guitar Work – or my brother who prefers ‘Power Stance’ – this beaut accommodates!

Now don’t be fooled by the front cover – the 70 songs aren’t all straight up. You do need to achieve a couple of successful ‘Gigs’ on the career mode to get the dosh to buy the extra tracks – but at $500 a track – and one gig earning you anyway between $75 and $1000 (depending on Difficulty level and subsequent performance) after a few gigs – you are there. But fear not – without the means of bank roll, you’ll still be rocking!

The game has so many ways to accommodate everyone. The practise can have a reduced speed play back, so you can practise, practise, practise, then juice up the speed a little and finally get there!

The 5 ‘fret’ keys are interesting – for Beginners it only requires you to use 3 (breaking you in gently) but that still doesn’t mean the songs wont go really fast and have multiple combinations of the three buttons! It’s a good game, and the addictive edge really is quite sharp!

I convinced my Brother to buy one within minutes of seeing me ‘thrashing’ at the remote – and the 2 player co-op career mode was quite tasteful too.

I would say the only drawback is the Gamer points. If you’re are like me – and enjoy showing of your aptitude by Gamer point score – this will disappoint. If thrashed the pants off Easy & Medium difficulties (in totality) and for this my running total is 65 Gamer points! You get 5 points for pretty much everything (including a 500 note streak – which was pretty hard!) But all the big boy points are saved for mostly online – but with 5 points being awarded for “Host 15 matches online and consecutively win them all” – I think I wont lose much sleep!

I think only serious Rock Legends will be accruing points on this – but for us mere Guitar Mortals – id be outstanded by anyone with triple figures!
